• Children's Rights and Empowerment: We see children as active participants in their own learning journey. Their voices, opinions, and ideas are valued and respected. Children have the right to express themselves, make choices, and take initiative in their learning experiences.

• Safe and Secure Environment: The innocence of childhood is cherished and safeguarded within our service. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and secure environment where children can explore, learn, and grow.

• Family Partnerships: Recognising the vital role of families in children's lives, we strive to build strong partnerships with parents and families. We value your input, insights, and involvement in every aspect of our programs.

Alignment with Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) Version 2.0

We are guided by the principles and practices of the Early Years Learning Framework Version 2.0. This framework emphasizes the importance of:

Belonging, Being, and Becoming: We acknowledge that children's lives are characterized by a sense of belonging, exploring their identities, and evolving into who they are becoming. We create an environment where children feel a sense of belonging to their families, communities, and the wider world.

Learning Outcomes: We are committed to promoting the five key learning outcomes:

1.                 Children have a strong sense of identity.

2.                 Children are connected with and contribute to their world.

3.                 Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.

4.                 Children are confident and involved learners.

5.                 Children are effective communicators.

We strive to ensure that each room provides:

·       A warm, welcoming home-like environment that promotes secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships.

·       A vibrant and flexible child-led environment that is rich in choices and provides dynamic opportunities for learning as individuals and as part of a group.

·       Opportunities to undertake collaborative group work and projects inspired by children’s interests and/or family interest, community or educator initiation.

·       Opportunities for children to develop independence through everyday routines.

·       An environment that is safe and promotes exploration, discovery, challenge and understanding of our natural and physical worlds.

·       An environment that builds high self-esteem and self-worth.

·       An environment and curriculum that promotes holistic development and high expectations for children across all developmental areas through intentional teaching and spontaneous learning.

·       Respect for diversity by acknowledging the cultural backgrounds, languages, values and contributions of all families in the centre and the surrounding community, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

·       Opportunities for children, families and educators to develop cultural competence by promoting positive attitudes, learning and developing communication skills and interactions across diverse cultural groups.

·       Opportunities for children, families and educators to share their ideas, knowledge, skills, culture, language and experiences with the centre through regular communication, involvement in the centre and program development.

·       Ongoing records of children’s development and assessment through learning stories, reflective journals, project documentation, samples of children’s work and reflections on children’s goals.

·       An environment that promotes positive behaviours and pro-social relationships between children and others.

·       Partnerships with families in all aspects of their child’s development including working with families to develop and evaluate goals for their child.

·       Opportunities for educators to gain further knowledge, skills and competence in the early childhood field and through regular Educator training and professional development.

Respect for Diversity: We value and respect the diverse backgrounds, cultures, languages, and traditions of all children and families. Our curriculum reflects this diversity, promoting understanding, appreciation, and celebration of differences.

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives: We embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our practices, contributing to Reconciliation efforts and ensuring all children have the opportunity to learn about Australia's First Nations' cultures, histories, and languages.
  
  

•    We celebrate the diversity and multicultural nature of the community in which we live and acknowledge the original custodians of this land, the Wallumedegal clan of the Darug nation, on whose land we now stand, and we pay our respects to the Elders past, present, and emerging.

•  Our staff team reflects a diversity of education, training, and life experience, as well as a range of multicultural backgrounds and languages. This supports children as they settle and build relationships, feeling a sense of belonging. Our families also reflect a range of multicultural backgrounds and languages. This diversity enriches the life of our service and we strive to reflect this diversity throughout the centre, as well as in our programming and daily experiences we provide for the children.

• Through a range of learning experiences, positive interactions with educators and peers, and a wide variety of opportunities and materials we are creating and facilitating a meaningful educational program where children are encouraged to develop at their own pace, build on their interests, grow in social competence and independence, and become active participants in their own learning.

By publicly committing to these standards, we ensure that our service maintains a culture of safety, accountability, and transparency. We continuously strive to improve our child safe practices, keeping the best interests of children at the forefront of all that we do.

•    Smoke, Drug, and Alcohol-Free Environment: Kingdom of Little Stars Child Care is a smoke, drug, and alcohol-free service. 

•  Commitment to Ongoing Learning: Our staff and educators are dedicated to a process of ongoing learning and professional development. We regularly engage in refresher training to stay updated on best practices, new methodologies, and child safety protocols.
